There are numerous resources available for researchers investigating value in health care. Below are links to a few of these resources, this list is not meant to be exhaustive and is not meant to be an endorsement from the RC-HCVA, Altarum Institute, VBID Health, or the PhRMA Foundation.
Fair Health - FAIR Health is an independent nonprofit that collects data for and manages the nation’s largest database of privately billed health insurance claims and is entrusted with Medicare Parts A, B and D claims data for 2013 to the present. We are known both for our commitment to transparency and for making actionable data available in innovative ways to all stakeholders in the healthcare community. Created with the real-world needs of users in mind, our data products, tools and educational information support laws and regulations, catalyze business decisions, inform claims adjudication, fuel research, shape healthcare policy and meet the day-to-day cost-estimation needs of healthcare consumers.
Health Care Cost Institute - The Health Care Cost Institute’s mission is to get to the heart of the key issues impacting the U.S. health care system — by using the best data to get the best answers. HCCI stands for truth and consensus around the most important trends in health care, particularly those economic issues that are critical to a sustainable, high-performing health system.
Payformance Solutions - Payformance Solutions is a value-based reimbursement service provider dedicated to advancing payment transformation in the healthcare industry. Leveraging our affiliation with nonprofit research and consulting organization Altarum, we launched the TrustHub suite of services to equip payers and providers with the technical tools and resources required to design, evaluate, build, measure and negotiate value-based reimbursement contracts while aligning financial goals with improved patient outcomes.
MedInsight Waste Calculator - The MedInsight Waste Calculator is an analytical tool that provides actionable data to support healthcare quality, efficiency, and effectiveness reporting. The calculator brings together clinical expertise and powerful data analytics—allowing healthcare managers to target and reduce wasteful spending.
The Arnold Foundation - Our strategy is to systematically examine areas of society in which underperformance, inefficiency, concentrated power, lack of information, lack of accountability, lack of transparency, lack of balance among interests, or other barriers to human progress and achievement exist. We then apply a rigorous and comprehensive entrepreneurial problem-solving approach to these areas, considering all possible strategies, tactics, and resource allocations to effect solutions. Our approach is not limited to what has been tried, or even what has been proposed, in the past. Instead, we seek to incentivize bold, creative thinking and effort, with the goal of igniting a renaissance of new ideas and approaches applied to persistent problems.
The Donaghue Foundation - The Foundation supports a diverse portfolio of research projects, from understanding the mechanisms of disease, to improving clinical treatments, to public health initiatives that prevent illness—all founded on excellent science.
The PhRMA Foundation - The PhRMA Foundation supports young scientists in disciplines important to the pharmaceutical industry by awarding them competitive research fellowships and grants at a critical decision point at the outset of their careers. For more than 50 years, the Foundation has been helping to build a larger pool of highly-trained, top-quality scientists to help meet the growing needs of scientific and academic institutions, government, and the research-intensive pharmaceutical industry. Since its founding in 1965, it has distributed more than $86 million to support scientific research.
PCORI - PCORI was established to fund research that can help patients and those who care for them make better-informed decisions about the healthcare choices they face every day, guided by those who will use that information.
